Tinkerforge is based on several
components:bricks (microcontroller boards), bricklets that add more options to further extensions and the Master Extension for even more possibilities.
Interaction is possible via Wi-Fi, USB or Ethernet, and programming can be done in a variety of programming languages (e.g. C, C++, Java, PHP etc.). But code for different projects is available online if you don't know how to programme yourself.
Except for a soldering iron, solder and a screwdriver, the Tinkerforge Hardware Hacking Starter Kit contains all the necessary components for simple yet ingenious ideas.
You can read out the data of your fire alarm, get your computer to alert you when your door bell rings (no missing the postman while listening to loud music!) or let your smartphone open the garage door. It's up to you and your creativity!
