In March 2005, a television set was put up for sale on the Rockdogdesigns blog. Since the author did not have a ruler or tape measure to hand, she put a banana next to the TV before she took a picture – not knowing that she was creating one of the most famous memes of all time! Nowadays, most people on the internet know 'banana for scale', a unit of measurement that's even managed to mend the rift between the metric and imperial systems, effectively bringing different cultures closer together.
With the Banana for Scale Ruler, you can even catch two birds with one stone: you can either use it as it is used in the meme or you can use the centimetre indications to get more precise readings. Even the degree markers can be used, similar to a triangle ruler, leaving nothing to be desired. Well, except one thing maybe… Unlike the real banana, you sadly can’t eat the ruler ;).
