As we all know, a proper board game, tabletop game or role-playing game evening needs to be meticulously prepared: Snacks have to be bought, the lights have to be dimmed for the right mood and the playing field has to be prepared. So far, so good - everyone should be able to manage that. The next step is to thematically adapt all accessories such as dice, card holders etc. to the game. And even here, some genres have it easier than others: While fantasy fans can throw all kinds of dice decorated with skulls, dragons, dwarf runes and the like, sci-fi fans have to look down the tube and make do with the boring plastic ones from the nearest supermarket...
This fact has inspired the team behind the Kickstarter-funded Space Roller SciFi RPG cube to create a cube for fans of Shadowrun, Warhammer 40k and other genre greats. The result is a cube that is not only visually unparalleled: The Space Roller is a 16 mm, six-sided cube made of luminous synthetic resin, weighs around 5.5 grams and rolls across the playing field almost by itself thanks to its chamfered edges.
However, you can only discover the real highlight when you turn off or dim the lights. That's when the decorations, reminiscent of futuristic circuits, start to glow. And believe us, until you've rolled a six with a glowing dice, you won't know what board game luck means ;) To achieve this effect, all you have to do is place the dice in the sun or shine a UV lamp on them.
