The D20 – i.e. the 20-sided die – is a symbol for roleplaying games such as Dungeons & Dragons, but also other game genres such as tabletops. Not surprising, considering that its literal many-sidedness perfectly represents the complexity and open possibilities of the game genre in which it is used. After all, one of the golden rules for Dungeon Masters or Game Masters is: be good at improvising, your players will undoubtedly do things you didn’t expect! And a Nat20 makes basically anything possible.
